Recently The Honourable Dame Quentin Bryce AD CVO showed her appreciation for the newly developed website “CarerHelp”, by providing a short video outlining the benefits for carers of people diagnosed with an advanced disease.  

Dame Quentin Bryce is a pioneer in contemporary Australian society. Her interests lie in advancing human rights and equality, the rights of women and children and the welfare of the family. This contribution to society led to her appointment as an Officer of the Order of Australia in 1988 and a Companion of the Order of Australia in 2003. She was invested as a Dame of Grace of the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem also in 2003. Quentin Bryce served as the Governor General of Australia from 2008 – 2014, and in early 2014 Quentin Bryce was announced as a Dame in the Order of Australia.

Dame Quentin Bryce says, “Carers provide an invaluable service to people needing support, particularly for those near the end of their life. They are an important part of the palliative care team and are always included in essential tasks when a patient nears the end of their life.”

During her career Quentin has experienced and witnessed the principles of palliative care translated into practice, combining compassion, kindness and professional skills. She believes that CarerHelp is a highly beneficial resource for carers and our health system.

 She adds that “Preparing to be an end of life carer can be particularly difficult. With over 2.7 million carers in Australia, it’s important to have a resource available to assist carers in the most straight forward way possible. The CarerHelp website will have great benefit to our palliative care and health system. Information can make a difference to you and to the person you are caring for.”
