CarerHelp has developed a “Guide to CarerHelp: for Health Care providers” to support GPs, specialist palliative care doctors, nurses and other health care professionals in enabling family carers to prepare to care for a person with terminal illness.
The guide includes suggestions as to how healthcare providers can utilise the resources available. CarerHelp has a range of resources to prepare carers to care for someone at the end of their life. Palliative care and health care services may use the resources to help carers. By using CarerHelp, the palliative care services can:
Over 300 packs have been mailed to primary health care networks, palliative care services, health care providers and professional organisations around Australia. The packs aim to inform health care providers about CarerHelp and how they can utilise the online resource with their practice and for carers.
Being prepared for end of life is everyone’s responsibility. Therefore, we are encouraging health care services to have an understanding about the CarerHelp resource and use it to their advantage with carers.
